1. Task Data
- What we collect: Task titles, steps, descriptions, and completion status
- Why we collect it: To provide core app functionality - breaking down tasks and tracking progress
- How it's stored: Locally on your device using Core Data
2. iCloud Sync Data
- What we collect: User ID for iCloud sync
- Why we collect it: To synchronize your tasks across your Apple devices via CloudKit
- How it's stored: Encrypted in your private iCloud storage
- Important: We do NOT have access to your iCloud data - it's stored in YOUR iCloud account
3. AI-Generated Content
- What we share: Task titles you enter (e.g., "Clean kitchen", "Workout at home")
- Who we share with: Anthropic Inc. (Claude AI API)
- Why we share: To generate step-by-step task breakdowns using artificial intelligence
Important:
- We only send task titles and refinements you explicitly request
- Anthropic processes this data according to their privacy policy
- No personally identifiable information is sent
- Data is not used to train AI models (per Anthropic's commercial terms)
4. Voice Input (Optional)
- What we collect: Voice commands for navigation (e.g., "next step", "previous")
- Why we collect it: To enable hands-free task navigation
- How it's processed: Locally on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition framework
- Important: Voice data is processed on-device and is NOT sent to our servers
5. Purchase Information
- What we collect: Subscription status via Apple's StoreKit
- Why we collect it: To verify Pro subscription status
- How it's managed: Through Apple's secure payment system
- Important: We do NOT receive your payment details - Apple handles all transactions
6. App Usage Data
- What we collect: Number of tasks created (stored locally), feature usage (e.g., task completion, recommendations viewed)
- Why we collect it: To provide personalized recommendations and improve app experience
- How it's stored: Locally on your device using UserDefaults
- Important: This data never leaves your device

- Data retention: Per Anthropic's commercial API terms, your data is not retained after processing
Apple iCloud (CloudKit)
- Purpose: Synchronize your tasks across your Apple devices
- Data shared: Tasks, completion status, user preferences
- Privacy: Data is encrypted and stored in YOUR private iCloud account
- Control: You can disable iCloud sync in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud

Service Availability and Limitations
Third-Party Service Dependencies
The AI-powered task breakdown feature relies on third-party cloud services (Anthropic Claude API).
Like all cloud-based services, AI features may occasionally experience:
- Temporary service interruptions due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues
- Performance variations during high-demand periods
- Service limitations imposed by third-party providers
This is normal for any app using cloud-based AI services (similar to how Siri, ChatGPT, or
Google Assistant may occasionally be unavailable).
Continued App Functionality
Important: Core app features work independently and remain available at all times:
- ✅ Manual task creation and editing
- ✅ All your existing tasks and archives
- ✅ Task execution, timers, and progress tracking
- ✅ Voice navigation controls
- ✅ Offline access to saved tasks
Only AI-powered features (automatic task breakdown and refinement suggestions) depend on external services.
Service Level
While we make every reasonable effort to ensure reliability:
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of AI features
- Service quality may vary based on third-party provider conditions
- Temporary interruptions may occur without prior notice
Subscriptions
For Pro subscribers:
- Your subscription provides access to all Pro features when available
- Subscriptions are non-refundable per Apple's standard policies
- Core app functionality always remains accessible regardless of AI service status
- All subscription terms are managed through Apple's App Store
Your Rights and Choices
Data Access and Control
- View your data: All your tasks are visible in the app
- Delete your data: Delete individual tasks by swiping left in the Archive tab,
delete all data by uninstalling the app, or manage iCloud data in
iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage
- Export your data: Currently not available (feature planned)
Opt-Out Options
- AI Features: You can choose not to use AI task breakdown by manually creating tasks
- Voice Control: Deny microphone permission in iOS Settings → Helpun → Microphone
- iCloud Sync: Disable in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Helpun
Children's Privacy
Helpun is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have
inadvertently collected such information, please contact us.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Showing an in-app notification for significant changes
Your continued use of the app after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
Data Retention
- Active tasks: Stored until you delete them
- Archived tasks: Stored indefinitely until you delete them
- iCloud data: Retained in your iCloud account according to Apple's policies
- AI requests: Not retained by Anthropic after processing (per commercial API terms)
International Data Transfers
- Your iCloud data is stored in Apple's global infrastructure according to your Apple ID region
- AI processing requests are sent to Anthropic's servers (may include international transfer)
- All transfers use encryption and comply with applicable data protection laws
