Pilikun. A shake-to-fly game for iPhone

A game you play with your whole arm: shake the phone hard enough and the bird stays in the air.

Tardigrade sticker: Strange project. And? I like it.

Pilikun started in June 2024 as a vibration game: one buzz meant shake, two meant freeze, and later fake buzzes tried to catch you moving. In September 2024 I rebuilt it around a single rule. The game averages the phone's acceleration, asks for 2 g at first and 1 g more for every ten seconds in the air, up to 11 g. Drop below that for three seconds and the round is over.

The signals moved from the hand to the ear. Music plays while the bird flies and fades as it drops, a single tap marks the fall, and a sound ends the round. Beside the main game there is Beep-Boop, where shaking plays a square wave that climbs with the force, and an online match through Game Center where whoever drops first loses.

Key Features

Shake to fly

The bird stays up while you shake harder than the game asks, and the demand grows every ten seconds.

Music as the signal

Music while the bird flies, fading as it drops, so you can keep your eyes off a screen you are shaking.

Beep-Boop

A second mode where the phone plays a square wave: the harder you shake, the higher the note.

Online matches

Two players each shake their own phone through Game Center, and whoever drops first loses.

Jump mode on a black screen — the bird mid-leap, with a line explaining that the sound changes as you leap and land
The challenge result — a timer reading 00:31:04, the personal best under it, and Retry, High scores and Home

One move, and the music tells you whether it is working.
