When you are in a toilet stall, you want to be sure the door is locked. Here minimalism has made the trip to the bathroom worse to the point that you check whether the door is locked every time — even right after you have turned the latch. Inside the stall there is a square bolt, and nothing tells you “the door is locked, go about your business”.
From the outside, by the way, you also have to peer at the position of the line: | or —.
The best solution is a sliding bolt, or a red-and-green latch.
(I did a bit of research — the problem is real: you sit on the toilet and keep checking whether the door is locked.)
